Love Languages - Quality Time

Saved the best for last! Haha, technically there isn’t a best love language but since Quality Time is my preferred language it certainly makes the most sense to me. As I mentioned in my last blog, I feel most loved when people spend time with me. I crave in-person time together to give me satisfaction in my relationships. This time together allows me to feel connected to my crew and well loved.

As is common with love languages, I need to remember that quality time isn’t everyone’s preferred love language. So, while I adore getting experience gifts that mean I’m able to hang out with people doing an activity, I have to remind myself that some of my loved ones want a tangible gift they can unwrap.

People with Quality Time as their primary love language highly value being in the same space—physically, emotionally, and mentally—with the people they love. Human interaction allows Quality Time individuals to feel seen, understood, and valued.

Some great ways to demonstrate love through Quality Time:

  • Exercising, going for walks, or to the dog park together
  • Starting a new TV series together
  • Reading a book aloud
  • Cooking together
  • Eating out without your phones
  • Going grocery shopping
  • Volunteering together
  • Actively listening and responding to their stories
  • Planning a vacation or staycation
  • Seasonal activities such as pumpkin carving, ice skating, or tree decorating

It’s not really about grandiose activities or expense for this love language. It’s about being present, attentive, setting aside time and following through on plans together. Your time is valuable and spending it with your Quality Time loved one speaks volumes.
