Volunteering in YYC

Do you volunteer? I used to actively give of my free time to a couple different groups in the city. My work life shifted and my availability to volunteer did too. I found myself in new circles and giving of my time to mostly job related extracurricular volunteer hours. Covid had an impact too as many agencies didn’t allow volunteers to participate at the height of lockdowns. I’m pleased to see life return to normal and that these opportunities to give of your time and skills is once again welcomed. I’m looking for new direction though! Everyone has causes near and dear to their heart; be it homelessness, supporting people with a wide variety of special needs, faith communities, fostering pets, mentoring teens, entrepreneurial start-ups, language learning, financial literacy, tutoring, companionship for seniors, or perhaps shovelling snow as I mentioned in my last post. I did a google search and found so many events and agencies looking for volunteer support! It is such an awesome way to demonstrate compassion and care for people in your community. I’m digging in! I want to explore some new needs and ways that I might be able to be well utilized and give of my time in meaningful ways. All this talk of Random Acts of Kindness is wonderful and has set me on a path to see how I can be useful in less random ways as well! Feel free to send me volunteer needs that you know of or tell us how you’re using your free time to enhance your community.
